Speaking English with Confidence
The ability to speak English clearly and without barriers can improve significantly when we practice the language regularly.
The goal of the training is to improve this ability in such a way that speaking English doesn’t become an avoidance, where we refrain from speaking it altogether because we are worried about “how we sound”.
So, how do we stop avoiding speaking English or second guessing everything we say?
By familiarizing ourselves with what exactly scares us when we speak a language that is not our mother tongue, we can start to feel more ‘in control’ of what it is we want to say and how we say it. Non-native speakers can luckily ‘unlearn’ or soften a native accent when they become more aware of how to produce the correct sounds in English. While learning to pronounce correctly can be very challenging, it is also equally very rewarding because you start to feel confidence when speaking English!
The more we learn to “neutralize” the sounds and speech habits that come from the past, the more it will be possible to replace them with sounds and rhythm that are correct for the English language, to improve our English accent.
